Boomerang Tags has been doing nothing but Pet ID Tags since 1991. The company was started by Don Paul who got into the Pet ID Tag business in 1975 under the name, “E-Z Read Pet Tags,” the first company to ever offer plastic Pet ID Tags.

It has always been Don’s mission to provide pet owners with ID Tags that hold up over time, i.e. an ID Tag that will actually allow the finder of a lost pet to contact the pet’s family years after the tag is purchased when the pet goes missing. The only reason to put a Pet ID Tag on a pet’s collar is so that if the pet ever does go missing the pet’s finder will be ABLE to contact the pet’s family, so what is important is that the tag the pet owner purchases holds up over time, i.e., is still on the pet’s collar with contact information the lost pet’s finder can read.

It became apparent to Don early on that people expected their pet’s id tag to never wear out, and while he has always done all that is possible to provide durable pet id tags, all things that are subject to friction, from the soles of your shoes to the pistons in your car’s engine, will wear in time, and a traditional hanging Pet ID Tag is subjected to a good deal of friction as a pet goes through its day. Do to this friction all traditional hanging tags are doomed to fail in time, there is no avoiding it. What to do? Invent a Pet ID Tag that is not subject to friction. In 1998 Don came up with a solution, CollarTags™. Since CollarTags™ go right on the pet’s collar with no need for a ring or hook to secure them, they eliminate all friction. Back in the day, when our tags were sold off a display in a retail Pet Shop, and pet owners could see what they were actually going to receive, we were selling 1,500 tags a day seven days a week; now online, where shoppers only have pretty pictures on a monitor to base their decision on… It’s frustrating to be competing with junk and losing the competition.

All tags provided by Boomerang Tags are actually engraved, we do not use a laser marking method, this because laser “engraving” is little better than text printed on with ink, and will quickly wears off the Pet’s ID Tag rendering the tag useless for the purpose.

Boomerang Pet ID Tags is an ethical company. We have never, and will never, offer one of our customer’s an ID Tag we would not be confident in trusting one of our own beloved lost pet’s safe return to.
